Message Board > raise your hand if you miss shawn

hey everyone, just wanted to get a little action going on this message board....it's looking a little sad with only two postings.

so, who misses shawn? i know i do. but it sounds like you are having an amazzzing time my dear, and i love to read your postings. i got scared when my mom mentioned that you got malaria...must have been interesting. isn't it amazing how a little pill can just- poof- fix what can be a fatal illness? i just think of all the poor people who don't have the right pill to pop when they start to get malaria...

i can't wait to hear more of your adventures. and i am hoping to save up enough money to come visit sometime in the next two years. however,i am not on the right track since all i am doing here in florence is spending money...well, i have 6 trips planned for june and july. paris, london, prague, berlin, munich, and greece, and perhaps bucharest. by the time i get home i will be broke. but hopefully i will be able to find a job and save up some more $ very soon. and come stay with you in your hut in paradise.

have you heard about the new cartoon movie coming out called madagascar? it's about all these zoo animals that escape and go to madagascar. i don't know what kind of entertainment they have over there, but if u have any chance in the next few months to get to a movie theatre, i am sure it would highly amuse u to see this film. do they have american movies over there? do they have movie theatres in tana? they must.

have you gotten my postcard? oh no, did i just ruin the surprise?

hope all is well love.
xo, jess

ps- my address in florence, till july 31:

Hello Jess,
I'm glad you found my site and were brave enough to post something. I have heard about the movie.I hope it be a hard-hitting film about the realities of subsistance living as a internation zoo refuge from NY. There are no american movies in my local city but perhaps in Tana, though it would certainly be in French.

Ok, keep saving your pennies (it will take quite a few to pay the airfare over here) for a trip.

Hi Shawn
This the very first blog that I have ever visited. AND, look at me, I'm actually posting something. Not bad for a 53 year old lady, huh? I can't believe you had malaria. That's some serious stuff. Glad to hear that meds were able to take care of it. We had our volunteer luncheon yesterday in an outdoor pavilion to thank Oregon Ridge and Marshy Point/Miami Beach Outdoor Science substitutes and volunteers. It was horribly hot (98 degrees with a heat index of 110!!!!!). I actually walked right out into the water, clothes and all. What's the temp like in Madagascar? I know it's your winter right now. I remember when I was in northeastern Australia in June and July it would get quite hot. But you are farther south of the equator. So, I'm hoping that your weather is nice. I need to hear a description of a typical day from you. Remember, I'm trying to live an African experience vicariously through you, so you have to be descriptive.

I will try to track down Khushi's address for you and I will also write a snail mail letter to you as well. Since, today is the last day of school (YAHOO!!!!!! You can probably hear all the Baltimore County teachers yelling from where you are), I should have some free time to write a letter. I am working for 3 weeks in July writing Environmental Science curriculum and have the wonderful job of trying to sell my parent's house and relocating them to somewhere over the summer.

Take care, Shawn. Miss you and can't wait to hear from you again.
